There’s a new safety training program at Grenfell Campus that expands on the culture of care that is already there. Dr. Stephen Decker is the Associate Professor with the School of Science and the Environment. He’s also on the airwaves quite often at Bayfm as a spokesperson for the Bay of Islands Volunteer Search and Rescue. Decker says this was needed to keep their students and researchers safe as Grenfell offers more graduate programs. He says a lot of that growth in graduate programs put more and more students and researchers into remote areas doing field work. He says this includes a whole range of different activities and scenarios from low to high risks. The Grenfell Field Research Safety Training Program launched last week.
