A man was arrested Friday night after setting a house on fire in Port aux Basques. RCMP Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says they got a call about a disturbance outside a home around 8 p.m on Seaward’s Lane. The witness told police he was acting erratically, throwing stuff on the roadway. When police got there, the house was on fire. Firefighters put the blaze out but there was extensive damage.
O’Donaghey says a 48-year-old Fernon Fredrick Seaward is charged with public mischief, mischief under $5,000 and failing to comply with conditions of a release order. Seaward received minor injuries as a result of the fire.
