On Tuesday, Bay St. George RCMP stopped a vehicle, arrested three people, and found drugs, open liquor and more. Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says they got a call about a suspicious car stopped near Massachusetts Drive in Stephenville. When officers approached the vehicle, they saw contraband cigarettes and arrested three occupants inside the vehicle for possession of unstamped tobacco products. A search of the driver, passengers and vehicle also resulted in the location and seizure of a quantity of suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia, improperly stored cannabis products and open liquor.
O’Donaghey says two of the three people are facing charges. The driver, a 41-year-old Port au Port woman, was charged under the Cannabis Control Act with having care or control of a vehicle with cannabis inside, where the cannabis is readily available to a person.
One passenger, a 35-year-old Port au Port East man, was ticketed under the provincial Liquor Control Act after being found in possession of open liquor.
Another passenger, a 34-year-old Cold Brook woman, was released without charge.
