People in Stephenville will see soldiers in uniforms walking the roads and carrying rifles this evening….but there is no reason to be alarmed. Members of C Company, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Newfoundland Regiment, will be conducting Canadian Army Reserve training there from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. This will include a march from Cambrai Armoury to the Igloo Road area, where they will complete patrol and section-level field training, before returning to the Armoury. Soldiers will be carrying military equipment and C7 service rifles but they won’t be loaded. No live or blank ammunition will be used, and magazines will not be carried in the rifles. Meanwhile, motorists are asked to slow down, give them space and use extra caution.
