When decisions are made by Corner Brook city council during private meetings, in order to make them valid, they have to be ratified during a public meeting. At Monday’s meeting, council approved minutes of several council in committee meetings that happened over the summer dealing with a Human Resources matter. Councillor Donna Wheeler spoke about the first such meeting on July 8th, whereby they approved the suspension of the Director of Recreation and Tourism for a period of 30 days with pay.
At another such meeting on August 6th, council approved the termination of the employment of the Director of Recreation and Tourism Services. Wheeler spoke about the next meeting which happened earlier this month concerning this matter. On September 8th, council approved the termination of the employment of the Director of Recreation and Tourism Services, Peter Robinson, without cause.
The city will not be providing more details as this is a Human Resources matter.
