Bay St. George RCMP caught up with a wanted man on Monday after he tried to run away. Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says just before 4 p.m., police were called to a theft at a store on Prince Rupert Drive in Stephenville. Witnesses provided a description of the suspect, and camera footage confirmed he was also a suspect in a similar theft.
Later in the day, RCMP on patrol in Stephenville Crossing located the man and tried to take him into custody but he fled on foot.
O’Donaghey says more officers and the police dog were called in to help find the suspect. 37-year-old Carl Junior Young was located at a home in Seal Cove and has been charged with two counts of theft, resisting arrest and breach of a court order.
