Government has launched a public engagement and consultation process to form a 10-year Agriculture Strategy focused on strengthening food production and connecting producers with markets. Forestry, Agriculture and Lands Minister Pleaman Forsey says a strong agriculture sector is essential to the goal of growing more of what we eat and eating more of what we grow. People can go to engageNL.ca or email agstrategy@gov.nl.ca to provide input and the deadline is January 29, 2027. Forsey says participants are encouraged to comment on issues relevant to the agricultural sector.
There are 537 farms across the province with more than 800 people working directly in agriculture.
