Two Northern Peninsula men charged with resisting arrest, one charged with assault on a police officer

    When they tried to arrest 32- year-old  Jonathon Learning, he resisted, assaulted an officer and fled on foot.

    RCMP arrested a man in St. Lunaire on Saturday, who is now facing charges of assault with a weapon and assault on a police officer. Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says they got a call to a disturbance outside of a home. He  says when they tried to arrest 32- year-old  Jonathon Learning, he resisted, assaulted an officer and fled on foot. The next day, Learning was located and taken into custody.

    Meanwhile, O’Donaghey says in Englee on Monday, police arrested a 46-year-old man after a disturbance at a restaurant. The suspect was identified and police located him nearby. Police attempted to arrest the man, however, he refused to cooperate with officers’ demands before he was safely taken into custody. O’Donaghey says resisting arrest is a serious offence. Both investigations are continuing.
