This is National AccessAbility Week, and the Deer Lake Regional Airport has a suite of new tools to make travel accessible for everyone. They’re hosting an Accessibility Launch event this Friday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. CEO Tammy Priddle says they’ve partnered with GoodMaps and the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program. They are opening new accessible washrooms they’ve just completed.
Priddle says they used advice from the Coalition for Persons with Disabilities in the design of their new washrooms and it includes an adult sized change table. She says the Goodmaps technology they have now is a wayfinding method to help passengers navigate the airport using their smartphones. Priddle says they are the first airport in NL to have this.
