Katie's Konveniece in Halfway Point wins a National Award

    Katie’s Konvenience is the winner of the 2026 outstanding independence awards Canada, presented by Convenience Store news Canada.

    A popular convenience store located on the south shore of the Bay of Islands has won a national award. Katie’s Konvenience is the winner of the 2026 outstanding independence awards Canada, presented by Convenience Store news Canada. Linda and Larry Edmonds have been the owners for 34 years now and their Halfway Point location also includes a bar, restaurant and take-out. On Bayfm with Lenny Benoit, Edmonds spoke about how a “For sale” sign grabbed her attention more than three decades ago. 

    There are 12 employees at Katie’s Konvenience. Edmonds spoke about community connections they have created. On Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. there will be a Community Celebration for Linda and Larry at Katie’s Konvenience to recognize their decades of dedication.
