The annual Spring Cleanup in Corner Brook started May 4th and was due to wrap up on May 29th, but the Mayor says bulk waste is still being collected curbside. On Bayfm with Lenny Benoit, Linda Chaisson says staff are still picking up garbage for the 1400 residents who booked an appointment. She says in some cases, people who didn’t book an appointment are dumping garbage on other properties to be picked up. Chaisson says it’s a busy time for Public Works, getting ballfields and Margaret Bowater Park ready to open. She says street and sidewalk sweeping, as well as line painting have started. Two new employees were hired yesterday to focus on cleaning the West Street and Broadway areas.
