$271K was announced in the last budget and funding proposals will be accepted until May 30th.

As groups throughout the province gathered yesterday to mark the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+), government issued a proposal call for Indigenous Violence Prevention Grants. $271K was announced in the last budget and funding proposals will be accepted until May 30th. Women and Gender Equality Minister Pam Parsons says the program reaffirms government’s commitment. May 5th is also commonly known as Red Dress Day.  Parsons says through working closely with Indigenous women, something she would like to see is a red dress alert system, similar to amber alert. The first of these projects is currently under development in Manitoba.
