With more than 900 young people in care, government is launching a recruitment campaign to get more foster families. It’s called “Foster a Future” and is designed to encourage more residents to become foster parents. A new website offers clear information on eligibility, the application process and the full range of supports available to foster families. Individuals may be single, married or in a common-law relationship, and may be homeowners, renters, employed, retired or stay-at-home parents. Training is also available. More information can be found on the Foster a Future website or by calling 1-855-683-8111.
