This year, the team we depend on when the need is the greatest, is working towards the purchase of a new ATV.

Tune into Bayfm tomorrow for the second annual radiothon in support of Bay of Islands Volunteer Search and Rescue. Last year’s radiothon helped with the purchase of a new truck which has been deployed on a number of search and rescue calls since. This year, the team we depend on when the need is the greatest, is working towards the purchase of a new ATV. Stephen Decker says their current ATV is about 6 years old and while it does help with getting searchers into backcountry areas, it doesn’t have enough horsepower to tow their rescue boggan. He says the rescue boggan is like an enclosed caboose, and has weight to it when it has a patient and attendant onboard. It also carries equipment like backboards, a vacuum mattress, splints, and it  also has an onboard heater.

Members of the BOISAR team will be live on air here at Bayfm  tomorrow from noon until 3 p.m and they will have an equipment display, highlighting their new drone. The Corner Brook Kinsmen will be hosting a barbecue as well.
