In total, nearly 33,000 residents in the region will be served by the RNC’s 24-hour policing model.
The RNC in Corner Brook will now serve a larger part of the west coast. Justice Minister John Hogan was joined by RNC Chief Pat Roche and Pasadena Mayor Darren Gardner for the announcement this morning. The new expanded jurisdiction will include all communities in the Bay of Islands, the Town of Massey Drive, and communities in the Humber Valley as far east as Pasadena. Mayor Darren Gardner says this is on par with the town ‘s growth plans. In total, nearly 33,000 residents in the region will be served by the RNC’s 24-hour policing model. Gardner says it’s definitely a good news story. The transition will occur over the next year, with an effective date to be finalized in the coming months. Minister Hogan says the Corner Brook RCMP detachment will continue to provide specialized services in the west coast region.
