Shortly after ten o’clock Thursday morning, RCMP were passed on the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) by a SUV travelling at 155 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone and the driver, a 45-year-old Corner Brook man, was ticketed.
Last week, in less than a 24-hour period, RCMP throughout this province caught five motorists for dangerous driving behaviours. This included excessive speeding, unsafe passing and driving while suspended or uninsured. Shortly after ten o’clock Thursday morning, RCMP were passed on the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) by a SUV travelling at 155 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone. The driver, a 45-year-old Corner Brook man, was ticketed for excessive speeding and had his driver’s license suspended.
During the noon hour, police ticketed a driver near Glenwood for unsafe passing and in Harbour Breton, RCMP suspended the license of a New Brunswick man, who was clocked doing up to 148 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone on Route 360.
Later that afternoon, just after 3 p.m., Traffic Services West saw a truck speeding dangerously on the TCH near George’s Lake. The 29-year-old Stephenville man behind the wheel was driving with an already suspended licence.
Then, just after 7:30 p.m., a 47-year old Brigus man was driving an uninsured vehicle at 107 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone on Witless Bay Line. His license was also expired.
