Gerry Byrne announced $750,000 to go towards trail development at an event this morning at the Man in the Mountain lookout.
It’s a big day for the West Coast Cycling Association. Corner Brook MHA Gerry Byrne announced $750,000 to go towards trail development. An event was held this morning at the Man in the Mountain lookout near the Trans Canada Highway Exit 7. Byrne was also joined by the President and representatives from the Trans Canada Trail. As well, Byrne officially announced the new PET scanner which is coming to Western Memorial Regional Hospital. This after a 2021 announcement of $2 million for the hospital’s foundation to be able to purchase the equipment. Byrne says this technology is very unique and uses radioactive isotopes which have a half life and break down quickly. He says there is a facility in St. John’s that manufactures these radioactive isotopes, which at one time was flown in from the mainland. Byrne says now they are only an hour flight away. This will significantly reduce wait times and the province will have 3 PET scanners.
