A Corner Brook man is facing a long list of charges after being found with a handgun in Trout River. Rocky Harbour RCMP received a report of a dangerous driver in the town on January 3rd. Shortly after 3:30 p.m. that day police say he struck a pedestrian while speeding through the town. Police were also notified that 59-year-old Lawrence Clarke of Corner Brook, left the vehicle and had an altercation using a baseball bat with another individual. Police located his vehicle at a business in the town and Clarke was arrested. Clarke was recently charged with a number of criminal offences that occurred in both Clarenville and Lewisporte area, including dangerous operation, uttering threats, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and breaching a condition of a release order. He was released on a number of conditions. He is now facing 5 more charges related to the firearm. The investigation is continuing with further charges possible.
