Mayor Jim Parsons says this is a follow up to the aftermath of the landslide in the area last spring.
The City of Corner Brook is looking for proposals from qualified firms or individuals to complete a hydrological assessment of the Riverside Drive landslide embankment. This also includes historical rainfall and runoff data and groundwater levels. Mayor Jim Parsons says this is a follow up to the aftermath of the landslide in the area last spring. He says a preliminary assessment had to be completed before construction equipment could safely work there, not knowing the stability of the area. He says this followed with a LIDAR scan that allows engineers to see the contours of the hills without vegetation. Parsons says with climate change, these events are happening more often.
