The goal is to upgrade the current trail to include better parking, trail head upgrades, improved observation points and a Qalipu Medicine Walk.
The city of Corner Brook is recommitting to a Participark Upgrade Trail project. It’s a partnership between Qalipu First Nations and the Corner Brook Kinsmen club. The goal is to upgrade the current trail to include better parking, trail head upgrades, improved observation points and a Qalipu Medicine Walk. Councillor Bill Griffin says in 2019, the council of the day approved funding of $112,000 and a commitment to maintain the trail once upgraded. He says the original scope of the project changed and council approved another $20,000. Although council made these commitments, the project did not move forward as expected in 2021. Griffin says the city has reaffirmed all commitments with the Qalipu and is hopeful this project can move ahead next year.
