Charges upgraded now that a young boy has died after being struck by a vehicle in St. John's

    32-year-old Tyler Day is now facing charges that include Impaired Driving Causing Death, Failure to Remain at the Scene of an Accident Causing Death, Operating Over the Legal Limit Causing Death, and Dangerous Operation Causing Death.

    Charges have been upgraded against a man after a pedestrian-vehicle collision claimed the life of a six-year-old boy. A week ago, St. John’s RNC were called after the boy was riding his bicycle and was struck at an intersection. Police say the driver fled from the scene before they arrived but was located with help from the public. 32-year-old Tyler Day failed a roadside screening test and a breath test later at the detachment. He was also wanted on outstanding warrants. Day is now facing charges that include Impaired Driving Causing Death, Failure to Remain at the Scene of an Accident Causing Death, Operating Over the Legal Limit Causing Death, and Dangerous Operation Causing Death.
