Airport CEO Tammy Priddle says Porter is increasing capacity at Deer Lake starting in June.

The head of the Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority believes a recent announcement by Porter Airlines has a lot to do with community support. The airline will be flying nonstop between Deer Lake and Toronto Pearson 5 days a week. Airport CEO Tammy Priddle says Porter is increasing capacity at Deer Lake starting in June. She says the community has responded positively and Porter takes that as a strong indication that increasing frequency would also be supported.

Priddle says Porter is also expanding and growing their service domestically and internationally, offering more opportunities for YDF passengers to connect to Cancun, Florida and Nashville from Toronto Pearson.

She says Porter started in Deer Lake in 2024 with a Halifax service, came back with the service last year, adding a new Embraer jet and extended the season up until the first week of January. Priddle says this service will be back on March 2nd with the Halifax service three days a week but becoming daily starting in April and May.

She says passengers are filling the seats at Porter and that’s why the airline can increase their commitment and frequency of service from the Deer Lake Regional Airport.
