Council is not folding the current recreation committee, but instead are looking for interested people to join the current recreation members.
The Town of Irishtown-Summerside is issuing an apology to all recreation members and residents. A news story on BayFM yesterday, included Mayor Barry Wheeler talking about forming a new recreation committee. The fact is, the post from the town yesterday was copied from a 2022 post and contained incorrect information. Council is not folding the current recreation committee, but instead are looking for interested people to join the current recreation members. Mayor Barry Wheeler says there will be a meeting this weekend for anyone who would like to be involved. It will take place 7 pm this Sunday at the town hall. Wheeler says there are 7 members on the executive now but they are looking for people who are interested in joining. Wheeler says thanks to the executive they have a new playground, a walking trail, and other projects in the works.
