Corner Brook is ending the year in a fiscally prudent manner. At last night’s public council meeting, Mayor Jim Parsons gave an update saying the city is not over budget and they’re still waiting on outstanding payments. He says the total budget for the year is $37, 414,835 and so far, $36,706,899 has been spent. Parsons says the city is still waiting for payments from the gas tax, PSAP, and Corner Brook Pulp and Paper’s grant in lieu. He says the city is waiting on about 3.3 million in outstanding receivables. Parsons says details for various department spending can be found on the city’s website.
