At this week’s public meeting Corner Brook city council approved a couple of new businesses. A home based operation creating handcrafted essential oils/personal care products on West Valley Road got the go ahead. Products will be delivered to customers. Mayor Linda Chaisson says a notice was sent to residents in the area but no submissions were received.
Next, was an application to operate a Fitness Centre on Union Street. On October 6, 2026 the application was placed on the city website, city’s social media platforms and front lobby TV giving the general public an opportunity to express any concerns they may have. The city did not receive any responses regarding the proposal. City staff did not feel that a Fitness Center would have any negative impacts on the surrounding area and recommended approval.
