After taking more than a year off to become a Canadian Army Reserve member, Jason Benoit is bringing his music back to radio with his new song, “Sucker for Punishment.” The country music singer-songwriter from Fox Island River released his first track in 2013. Benoit is a two-time MusicNL Indigenous Artist of the Year (2021, 2023) and the 2023 MusicNL Fans Choice Entertainer of the Year. In 2024, he won the East Coast Music Award’s Country Recording of the Year for Time Traveller-The Album. On Bayfm, Benoit said he’s always working on music. He’s been producing his own tracks for the past 6 years and says he’s working now on bookings for next year.
