A police presence in Deer Lake on Friday led to the arrest of 44-year-old Conrad Crocker who is now facing 12 criminal charges. RCMP Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says they got a report that he was uttering threats, breaching court-ordered conditions and trying to intimidate someone involved in an ongoing court proceeding.
On Wednesday, October 21, Deer Lake RCMP began an investigation after receiving reports that Conrad Crocker, 44, was repeatedly making unwanted contact with an individual in person and by phone, in violation of his court-imposed conditions, and uttering threats of harm. Crocker and the victim were known to each other.
O’Donaghey says around noon on Friday, October 23 a Deer Lake RCMP officer on patrol observed Crocker’s vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled and was later found on a residential street in Deer Lake, prompting a police advisory asking the public to avoid the surrounding area while police attempted to locate and arrest Crocker.
Police tracked Crocker to a home in Corner Brook and he was taken into custody shortly before 2:00 a.m. Saturday. The investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.
