Government is looking for the public’s input for a review of the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) as part of their commitment to protecting the privacy of personal health information. This is in response to concerns raised earlier this year regarding parental access to children’s health information and the implementation of MyChart through CorCare. Feedback will help determine how the Act can best support the privacy rights of young people and the rights and roles of parents and guardians. It will also be used to amend legislation in the fall. An online questionnaire can be filled out at EngageNL.ca or residents can email PHIAReview2026@gov.nl.ca. and residents can mail submissions to P.O.Box 8700, St. John’s, A1B 4J6. The deadline to submit online is September 21st and by mail, the deadline is September 30th. There will also be virtual consultations with stakeholders who will be contacted to schedule sessions.
