A 37-year old man was arrested on Friday after police clocked him doing 190km/hr on the Trans Canada Highway in the Corner Brook region. RNC Cst Stephanie Myers says a report about a speeder came in around 2 o’clock in the afternoon. They located the vehicle and tried to stop it, but the driver kept going, went through a red light and abandoned the vehicle on a dirt road in the Lewin Parkway and Pratt Street area, before taking off on foot. After a brief foot chase, police arrested Scott King. He was charged with flight from police and dangerous operation.
Myers says King was wanted on warrants; one for using a counterfeit bill to pay at a Corner Brook convenience store on June 17th, and one from June 28th where he fled from police in a vehicle.
Meanwhile, the RNC issued an advisory about a police presence on Friday and Myers says police were looking for the driver. The RNC impounded the vehicle.
