Pasadena Elementary is getting expanded and renovated, and government is looking for someone to design it. Requests for Proposals (RFP) are being accepted for design consulting services. The extra room is so the school can continue to meet the needs of students, staff and families in the town. Hal Cormier is the MHA St.George’s-Humber and was a councillor in Pasadena for 8 years and the town has been growing with a lot of young families.. He says this will be the second expansion at the school since 2016.
Cormier moved to Pasadena in 2011 and was a member of the school council in 2015. He says they knew then an expansion was needed since birthing rates were growing and after lobbying government two kindergarten classrooms were added. Cormier says accommodations will also need to be made for students as they transition to Pasadena Academy.
The expansion includes four more classrooms, a new kitchen and lunchroom, along with accessible washrooms and space for a pre-Kindergarten program. More information can be found at www.merx.com/govnl.
