Several organizations on the west coast are among the more than 100 in NL to share more than $3.1M in funding. Some of the funding is going to Corner Brook Rotary Arts, the Elmastukwek Mawio’mi and the town of Flatrock. The money is from the Cultural Economic Development Program. This helps these organizations with festivals, concerts, theatrical productions, art exhibitions, dance performances, community celebrations, and other cultural events. The support strengthens communities, and creates opportunities for artists, musicians as well as heritage groups. Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation Minister Andrea Barbour says “Our arts and culture sector plays a vital role in strengthening communities, preserving our heritage and showcasing the creativity and talent found throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.”
