The College of the North Atlantic (CNA) showed off one of the electric cars they will use as part of a new pilot for Electric Vehicle First Responder Training. Members of the media were treated to a display at the college’s Prince Phillip campus in St. Johns this morning. CNA President Brent Howell says the Tesla Model 3 has been modified to highlight the hazards. He says they started the process just before covid hit and it took a long time to get to this point. Howell says as the world aims to have zero net emissions by 2050, first responders need this training. He says they will be offering the training program at several campuses throughout the province. He says the online component takes about 2 hours and the practical training takes upwards of 4 ½ hours.
