The town is looking for comments on amendments to development regulations to allow for three rowhouses containing a total of twenty units on about 1.1 hectares of vacant land.

Janice Forsey moved back home to Deer Lake in 2004 and has been living in the trailer court since that time. She says a notice was stapled to a light pole near her home last week about proposed changes to the rules for development to allow for three rowhouses containing a total of twenty units on about 1.1 hectares of vacant land on the west side of Trailer Park Road. The town is looking for comments on the proposal until August 10th. Meanwhile, Forsey says she’s contacted the town and the MHA but has not heard back, and would like to know what the plans are.

Forsey and a neighbour went door to door on Friday to get opinions about the development. She started a petition against the proposal and says upwards of 100 people have signed it. Forsey says high traffic on the road is a concern especially since it has two ninety degree turns, and there are concerns about the stability of the soil since it is bog land.

Bayfm news reached out to the town of Deer Lake for comment but has not heard back yet.
