An extensive search including from the air is ongoing for a missing 68-year-old man, whose vehicle was found in the Birchy Narrows area early yesterday morning. Perry Green was last heard from Monday morning and his family believed he was travelling between Port aux Basques and St. John’s, however he did not arrive. RCMP Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says police now have new information from the public that a missing 68-year-old man was in the Chain Lakes Road area of Birchy Narrows on Sunday (August 2nd).

O’Donaghey says Deer Lake RCMP continues to search the area with assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services and search and rescue volunteers from Deer Lake Regional SAR, Green Bay GSAR and Bay of Islands VSAR. Residents in the area may also notice additional air traffic as the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) is providing air support.

O’Donaghey says anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP or the RNC. Green was wearing a grey t-shirt, black pants, black shoes and a dark coloured jacket when he left Port aux Basques.  He has blue eyes, is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 155 pounds.
