A 32-year-old man had his license suspended and vehicle seized after police clocked him doing more than 50 km/hr over the speed limit in the Bay St. George area. RCMP Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says Traffic Services West stopped the driver Sunday afternoon on the Trans Canada Highway near Flat Bay. Police observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Radar confirmed a speed of 154 km/h in a posted 100 km/hr zone.
O’Donaghey says excessive speed is one of the most common contributors to serious and fatal roadway incidents. He says tThe extra minute or two that you might save by speeding is simply not worth it. There are penalties like fines, or the loss of your licence or vehicle. But there are far worse consequences, like life-altering injuries or even death.
RCMP officers are conducting proactive patrols on roadways across the province looking for dangerous driving, speeding, and impairment.
