The 150-bed project will replace the current 114-bed facility constructed in 1976. This land is located on Seal Cove Road, near the site of the current long-term care facility.
A site was chosen and now the land has been expropriated by government to build a new long term care facility in the Bay St.George region. The nearly six hectares of land was previously owned by Reid Newfoundland Company lands but most recently owned by the town of Stephenville Crossing. The 150-bed project will replace the current 114-bed facility constructed in 1976. This land is located on Seal Cove Road, near the site of the current long-term care facility. Budget 2025 allocated $1 million for the initial phase of the facility’s replacement, including design work, site preparation and other pre-construction activities. A Request for Proposals for a technical advisor for the project will be issued in the coming weeks.
