The Corner Brook RNC is looking for information concerning a pedestrian vehicle collision in Curling early yesterday morning. A 91-year-old man was struck by the vehicle after midnight and was pronounced dead at Western Memorial Regional Hospital. It happened in an area on O’Connell Drive extension near Georgetown Road. 37-year-old Matthew Todd Batt of Benoit’s Cove was the driver of the vehicle and has been charged with impaired driving causing death. Batt’s driver’s license was suspended and the vehicle was seized by the RNC. Cst James Cadigan says police are looking for witnesses or video footage, including CCTV, dash-camera, cell phone from the area in the lead up to, or immediately following the collision.
