Mayor Jim Parsons says divers were brought in to check the area and City Engineering are on the scene to assess the area.
Riverside Drive is closed until further notice. North Shore residents can access Corner Brook via the Trans-Canada Highway. Residents and motorists can enter or exit Corner Brook via Lewin Parkway connectors and Confederation Drive / Massey Drive connectors. Mayor Jim Parsons says divers were brought in to check the area and City Engineering are on the scene to assess the area. He says the area was weakened by the heavy rainfall recently and they need to find out what is stable. Motorists are also asked to avoid the Confederation Drive extension (Eastern end, past the Ford dealership) which is uphill from this incident while city crews determine its stability.
