A blue ATV was towing a trailer loaded with lumber and the operator fled from police and nearly collided with the police vehicle.
UPDATE: The operator has been located. Bay St. George RCMP thanks the public for their assistance.
EARLIER STORY: Bay St. George RCMP is looking to identify the operator of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) who would not stop for police Saturday evening. Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says just before 7 p.m. officers on patrol in Degrau noticed a blue ATV towing a trailer loaded with lumber along Oceanview Drive. The operator was not wearing a helmet and police tried to conduct a traffic stop. That’s when the operator fled and nearly collided with the police vehicle. The trailer attached to the ATV came off and the off-road vehicle fled into a wooded area.
O’Donaghey says police later located the same ATV stopped in a driveway and the operator once again fled. The rider lost control of the vehicle, which rolled over. The driver then fled on foot. The all-terrain vehicle was seized and impounded.
