Chief Jenny Brake says the highlight was having Mi'kmaw Grand Council Grand Chief Silliboy attend the Elmastukwek Mawio'mi, as well as Elder Maggie Paul.
It was a busy summer for Qalipu First Nations Chief Jenny Brake, saying her feet didn’t touch the ground much and it was just go all the time. Brake says it was fantastic to see so many familiar faces and meet fantastic people at various events. She says the highlight was having Mi'kmaw Grand Council Grand Chief Silliboy attend the Elmastukwek Mawio'mi, as well as Elder Maggie Paul. However, the Chief says it’s always the friends, family and volunteers who live here who warm her heart the most. She did get the opportunity to attend the Conne River Powwow with upwards of 3000 people, and it was an honour to walk in the Grand Entry with Chief Misel Joe and Chief Bradley Benoit. Brake says as a new band, Qalipu First Nations is one of the youngest bands in Canada.
