Trudeau says Canadians deserve a real choice in the next election.
After 13 years of being the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced he is stepping down to make way for a new leader. In December, NDP Leader Jasmeet Singh announced he would no longer support the Liberals and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland resigned after being offered another job. This led to more calls for the PM’s resignation, even from his own cabinet members. Trudeau says Canadians deserve a real choice in the next election. The next session of the House of Commons will be held in March.
