Porter Airlines announces expansions and Vice-president hints to "stay tuned" for news from Deer Lake

    The Deer Lake Regional Airport Passenger traffic is up by 11 percent with over 330,000 last year. 

    Porter Airlines is making it easier for Canadians to get to New York. Starting May 1st, the company will launch a new year-round service to LaGuardia Airport with up to three daily roundtrip flights with Toronto Pearson International Airport. Andrew Pierce is the vice president of network planning and reporting with Porter Airlines. He says they’ve been interested in the airport for some time now. The route will be operated by Porter’s new 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. Meanwhile, Pierce says Porter Airlines will be adding a new non-stop route from Ottawa to Victoria starting May15th. Porter Airlines started a direct route from Deer Lake to Halifax last summer. Pierce says stay tuned for more news out of Deer Lake. He says there are things coming as they optimize flight options and they have always been a big fan of the airport. The Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority released their strategic plan for the next five years this week. Passenger traffic is up by 11 percent with over 330,000 last year.
