A church on the Port au Port Peninsula that turns 100 next year is getting a facelift thanks to all those who voted in a national contest. Our Lady of Mercy church was in the running for Canada’s Next Great Save, through the National Trust for Canada. There were some close neck and neck numbers, but after days of online voting, the Painted Lady project won the contest with over 60,000 votes. Committee member Joanne Rose says she is amazed by the level of community support, even all the way from Ohio.
