Loyola O'Driscoll says recent reports of vehicles doing 151, 180, and even 201 km per hour have shocked the travelling public.

The opposition  shadow Minister for Digital Government and Service NL is pointing to the latest media reports of excessive speeding on our highways as proof of a lack of enforcement. Loyola O’Driscoll says this includes speed cameras, five years after the government passed legislation. He says recent reports of vehicles doing 151, 180, and even 201 km per hour have shocked the travelling public. O'Driscoll  says government has had the legal authority to implement speed cameras since 2019. He also noted that routine traffic enforcement results in hundreds of tickets in weekend blitzes, which underscores the lack of enforcement on a regular basis due to staff shortages within the RNC and RCMP.
