Helen Conway-Ottenheimer says nearly two years after the flawed legislation was introduced in the House of Assembly, women and gender diverse individuals are still waiting for regulations.
The opposition’s Shadow Minister for Women and Gender Equality is calling on the Minister to do something about pay equity. Helen Conway-Ottenheimer says nearly two years after the flawed legislation was introduced in the House of Assembly, women and gender diverse individuals are still waiting for regulations. She says it would complete this step towards pay equity and a promise made in March of 2023, which should have been released by the end of last year
Conway-Ottenheimer says the Minister’s inaction, noting that there is nothing new to report, is a disservice to the women and gender diverse individuals of Newfoundland and Labrador. She’s heard the media reached out to the Minister who declined to comment and an official sent an email saying there was nothing new to report.
Conway-Ottenheimer says the Minister has a duty and a responsibility to respond to, listen to and engage with these important groups who represent women and gender diverse individuals in our province.
