The City of Corner Brook has awarded a $50K contract for an update on the wastewater strategic plan. Since CBCL completed the plan in 2017, it has not been updated. At the last public meeting, Councillor Donna Wheeler said capital cost estimates have been adjusted for inflation but not for changes. Given the significant changes that have occurred since 2017, as well as the continued evolution of regulatory requirements and treatment technologies, an update to the Strategic Plan is necessary to ensure Council has current and reliable information to support long-term capital planning, budgeting, and future funding applications.
Wheeler says work will include a review and update of flow and load data, evaluation of wet-weather flow control strategies, confirmation of the preferred secondary treatment technology, updates to the conceptual design and implementation schedule, and the preparation of revised Class D cost estimates based on current market pricing and unit rates.
The city expects an updated plan in 4 months.
