The first refreshed aircraft are already in service, with the full fleet of 29 planes expected to be completed this fall.
Porter Airlines is now the first Canadian airline operating with enhanced Dash 8 cabins and the world's lightest aircraft seat in its category. Brad Cicero is with Porter Communications and says this means more comfort for passengers with Expliseat's TiSeat 2V, same two by two no middle seats and more leg room. It includes redesigned seat and back cushions, custom-developed to Porter’s specifications, updated tray tables and an integrated personal electronic device holder for hands-free viewing. Cicero says lighter seats means less fuel is being used, meaning better efficiency and sustainability. As well, he says cabins have been given a refreshing retrofit including installing LED technology with mood lighting, LED reading lights, and new carpeting. The Dash 8-400 fleet serves regional routes in Eastern Canada and the U.S. Cicero says that includes the Deer Lake airport. The first refreshed aircraft are already in service, with the full fleet of 29 planes expected to be completed this fall.
