NL has 52 nominees at this year's East Coast Music Awards, taking place this weekend

    A total of $500,000 was announced recently from government and the capital city to host the East Coast Music Awards next year.

    Tourism Minister Steve Crocker says music is the very fabric of Newfoundland and Labrador. He says music is not only valuable to our well-being but to the economy as well. Crocker says it’s a key part of the arts sector and NL has 52 nominations this year. A total of $500,000 was announced recently from government and the capital city to host the East Coast Music Awards next year. Crocker says this province has not hosted the ECMA’s since 2020. These awards attract industry professionals, talent buyers, media and record labels from around the world. Crocker says the 2025 Export Buyers Program expects 120 Canadian and International talent buyers will be in St. John’s. Crocker is headed to this year’s ECMA’s being held this weekend in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The ECMA’s will take place in St. John’s from May 7-11, 2025.
