Bay St. George RCMP stopped a stolen vehicle Friday night and caught a smell of cannabis, which led to more charges for the driver. Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says just before 11 o’clock Friday night, police noticed a vehicle speeding on the TCH near Flat Bay. It had an out-of-province license plate and the vehicle’s records determined that it had been reported stolen to the municipal police department in Saint John, New Brunswick.
Police also detected an odour of cannabis, and the driver performed poorly when asked to complete a Standardized Field Sobriety Test and also provided a blood sample. The 30-year-old man from New Brunswick is due to appear in Stephenville provincial court during September.
