MUN researchers want to hear from people who have been diagnosed with cancer. They want to know about social and workplace experiences following a diagnosis. The study will examine experiences of participants from different regions of the province, young (less than 45 years of age), and members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community from across the province. The Public Interest Group on Cancer Research is led by Dr. Sevtap Savas, a professor of genetics and oncology at Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. This partnership between scientists at the university and a diverse group of members of the public are helping to bring an impactful and positive change to the lives of individuals affected by cancer. In her latest blog, Dr. Savas says there is a familial connection with cancer and the age of diagnosis. She says if your parents were diagnosed, your risk of having cancer is higher.and you should contact your family doctor.
